A Haveli-style teak sideboard from Rajasthan, India, dating to circa 1880–1920, 245 cm wide, 83 cm high and 46 cm deep, weighing 87 kg, in blue with a hand-forged iron façade and original hinges, brackets and handles, in good condition with age-related wear and patina.
Description from the seller
Late 19th / Early 20th Century – Hand-Forged Iron & Solid Wood
A monumental and visually striking sideboard from Rajasthan, India, dating to the late 19th to early 20th century (circa 1880–1920).
The entire façade is clad in hand-forged iron panels, richly decorated with traditional punched and chiseled motifs. The repetitive geometric detailing and riveted construction are characteristic of fortified haveli doors and storage chests from the region.
The layered turquoise and oxidized patina has developed beautifully over time, creating a soft interplay between aged iron and underlying wood. The piece retains its original iron hinges, brackets and handles, all handcrafted.
Behind the three doors, the cabinet offers generous interior storage with shelving, making it highly functional despite its monumental presence.
The proportions (245 cm wide) give this piece exceptional architectural weight, making it ideal as a statement console, media unit or gallery centerpiece.
Age-related wear, oxidation and surface irregularities are consistent with historical use and contribute to its authenticity and character.
