Solid sculpture in corten steel, natural rust.
This sculpture is made of solid steel, one of the toughest materials there is, which poses a real challenge in its creation and fabrication, especially considering its substantial thickness of 15 mm. To bring this sculpture to life, I first did many sketches, seeking the shapes that inspire beauty, fluidity, harmony, and sensitivity. Then I designed the desired shape at a real scale to cut the steel plate with a blowtorch. After that I refined the piece to leave it as clean and smooth as possible and with its lines well defined. Next I welded the parts, subsequently I heated the material to give them movement so it wouldn’t come across as rigid, but would have that harmony. Finally, I applied an oxidation treatment as the final finish.
