Description from the seller
BLACH – Amsterdam Souvenirs / Amsterdamland
This work revisits the canals of Amsterdam in a version saturated with graffiti, subversions, and cultural nods. Behind the postcard image lies a biting satire: Amsterdam transformed into an open-air amusement park, a kind of “Amsterdamland.”
There you discover blacheries scattered all over, posters reappropriated in an Obey style, a caricature of Van Gogh in the act of graffiti, tributes to street artists such as Sine, Parenthèse SEEIN and Invader. A slightly annoyed mini-Goldorak bursts onto a façade, while a McDonald's reminds of global standardization.
In the sky, an invasion of aliens watches the scene. Each detail blends humor, a critique of mass tourism, and a pop energy.
Contemporary street art, a densely narrative work, social critique and visual explosion: a powerful, engaged, and ultra-detailed piece designed to be looked at for a long time.
