Cupboard - acacia - Hand carved sideboard

A large North Indian sideboard featuring a richly carved and polychrome-decorated façade, executed in a traditional architectural panel composition.

The front consists of three central door sections constructed from solid hardwood panels, reinforced with applied cross elements and fitted with circular brass bosses and hand-forged iron ring pulls. The brass mounts form a structured geometric rhythm across the surface, echoing traditional North Indian door construction.

Flanking and separating the doors are vertically carved panels with stylised foliate motifs. Traces of original polychrome decoration in red, green and ochre tones remain visible, framed by carved borders and a moulded upper cornice that reinforces the architectural character of the piece.

The cabinet opens to reveal spacious interior compartments with shelving, providing practical storage behind a highly decorative exterior.

Based on construction techniques, hardware and decorative treatment, the piece can reasonably be dated to circa 1940–1950, North India.

With a width of 260 cm, this is an imposing architectural sideboard suitable as a statement piece in both contemporary and classical interiors.

Delivery is usually carried out by us personally to ensure careful handling and safe arrival of the furniture.

If personal delivery is not possible due to distance, location, size, or weight of the item, the furniture will be professionally packed and shipped via a specialized transport company. Please note that professional packaging and transport services involve additional costs.

All listed transport costs (with the exception of deliveries within The Netherlands) are indicative only. Final transport costs may vary depending on destination, accessibility, and specific logistical requirements. Any difference in transport costs will be settled with the buyer prior to shipment.

Delivery is made to the first accessible threshold/ground floor entrance unless agreed otherwise in writing. Unpacking, installation, assembly, and placement of the furniture inside the property are the responsibility of the buyer.

The buyer is responsible for ensuring adequate access to the delivery location (including door widths, staircases, elevators, and parking availability). Any additional costs resulting from limited access or special lifting equipment will be charged to the buyer.

We strongly recommend inspecting the item upon delivery. Any visible transport damage must be reported immediately at the time of delivery and noted with the carrier.
