Description from the seller
Void 003. Fading Touch is a contemplative work within the Art with Void series by Tijs Dragtsma.
In this piece, the image does not arise through addition, but through removal. No paint. No print. No ink. The form exists through absence. What is taken away defines what remains.
The work captures a fleeting moment. A body partially emerging, partially dissolving. It is not a portrait of presence, but of transition. A gesture suspended between appearance and disappearance.
Light plays a decisive role. As illumination shifts, contours soften or intensify. The body seems to breathe within the darkness. From a distance the image appears calm and minimal. Up close, it reveals a subtle tension between void, reflection and spatial depth.
The surface becomes an active field. Absence carries emotion. Light completes what material no longer holds.
Fading Touch speaks of fragility without weakness. It reflects intimacy, vulnerability and the quiet power of transience. The figure is not fading because it is fragile, but because it exists in a delicate balance between visibility and disappearance.
About Art with Void
Art with Void is a self-developed artistic medium in which imagery emerges through the deliberate removal of material. Rather than building an image, Dragtsma creates space. What remains interacts with light and reflection to form the final visual experience.
The works are defined by restraint, precision and sculptural depth. Light functions not as an external condition, but as an integral component of the artwork itself, strengthening form while preserving subtlety.
Each piece is unique and unrepeatable, shaped by process, material behaviour and the dialogue between surface and illumination.
About the Artist – Tijs Dragtsma
Tijs Dragtsma is a Dutch contemporary artist and founder of TD Fine Art Studio. His practice operates at the intersection of material, absence and light, with a strong focus on developing new artistic languages rather than following existing conventions.
He is widely known for his Art with Nails series, in which hundreds to thousands of steel or brass nails form sculptural portraits that shift with light and perspective. With Art with Void, Dragtsma advances this exploration further, stripping imagery down to its most essential condition.
Since beginning his artistic practice in 2024, his works have entered private collections across Europe, Asia and the United States, and have been presented internationally. His work is driven by experimentation, precision and a long-term vision focused on material integrity and physical presence.
All works are conceived and produced in his studio in Enkhuizen, The Netherlands.
