VANTA, Scrim, oil painting on canvas, 175 cm by 140 cm, blue, contemporary, original edition, hand signed, in excellent condition, made in Austria.
Description from the seller
“Scrim” (2026)
Oil on canvas
175 x 140 cm
A human figure emerges from deep blue oil paint through careful removal, but this form refuses singular identity. Parts of the main figure dissolve into or transform into multiple other figures, creating a composition where one body becomes many or many collapse into one. VANTA has worked the uniform blue foundation with precision, removing varying amounts of paint to reveal this metamorphic form where individual identity blurs into collective presence.
The removal technique creates all tonal variation from a single blue - lighter where more pigment has been taken away, darker where the original application remains. Represented by S-Gallery and available on Catawiki, this piece explores the boundary between self and other, showing how one human form can contain multitudes. The figures interlock and overlap, their edges bleeding together in ways that make it impossible to determine where one ends and another begins.
The substantial canvas gives this complex arrangement room to develop without confusion. Despite the multiplicity, the eye can read both the primary figure and the subsidiary forms that constitute or emerge from it, creating a visual puzzle that rewards extended viewing.
Shipping:
The work is delivered without a frame (professional packaging, rolled in a tube). it can easily be restretched by a professional or on your own, this is also cheaper then the otherwise increased cost of shipping when sending paintings of this size stretched
The measurements indicated are those of the painting stretched and mounted on a frame (The actual
measurements of the canvas are larger to allow it to be mounted on a frame 2-4cm thick.
