Description from the seller
Large Sterling Silver Cutlery Canteen – Harrison Brothers & Howson for Harrods London– Sheffield 1928 – King's Pattern –
I bought the set from an English dealer nearly twenty years ago. Cute detail: note on the key: "Under the Bed in Double Bedroom". Probably to prevent theft :).
Description from Gemini:
For sale is an extraordinary cutlery ensemble of museum quality, crafted by the masters of Sheffield silverware artistry, Harrison Brothers & Howson. This set is an outstanding example of British luxury during the interwar period and was originally sourced through the world-famous Harrods department store in Knightsbridge, London.
History and craftsmanship: Harrison Brothers & Howson, holders of Royal Warrants. The stamps (GH, Crown, Lion, 'l') attest to production in Sheffield in 1928. The design follows the classic "King's Pattern", characterized by the refined shell and honeysuckle décor.
Scope and weights: The set offers a comprehensive service for 12 persons including rare serving pieces. The massive sterling pieces (spoons and forks) carry an exceptional weight on the scales (excluding the knives).
24 dinner forks: 2496g
6 soup spoons: 680
12 teaspoons: 434g
12 dessert forks: 902g
10 dessert spoons: 635g

The 12 knives feature solid sterling handles and high-quality blades made from Sheffield steel ("Cutlers to His Majesty"). Weight 1012g
Condition and provenance: The cutlery is in remarkably good preserved condition. It has been stored for decades in its original multi-story oak canteen.
