Artist Statement — Luis Enrique González
My work is a constant dialogue between light and form, where oil painting becomes a medium to explore the emotional and symbolic depth of reality. I am interested in nature and the human figure not only as visual motifs but as living territories laden with stories, silences, and tensions. Through realism, I seek to reveal what hides in the everyday: fragility, strength, persistence, and the beauty that manifest in gestures, in matter, and in the spaces we inhabit.
Chiaroscuro is, for me, a thinking tool. Through contrast I find the internal structure of each image, the atmosphere that allows color to breathe and become protagonist. I work with meticulous observation, hoping that each brushstroke retains the sensitivity of the moment and, at the same time, a permanence that transcends the temporality of the represented object.
My pieces sit at a crossroads between academic tradition and a contemporary gaze, where rigorous technique coexists with a personal expressive search. I paint because I find in oil a space of revelation: a way to understand the world and at the same time reinvent it through light, texture, and color.
Cuban visual artist specialized in oil painting on canvas, with a realist approach that stands out for technical precision, mastery of chiaroscuro, and a deep interest in nature and the human figure. His work combines solid academic training with an aesthetic quest focused on detail, light, and the expressive force of color. Studies 2012 • Art Bachelor’s Degree.
