AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

PARISINAS is an expressive painting measuring 70 by 100 cm by the artist Flavia Delgado, part of a body of work that openly engages with pop aesthetics, the language of the classic poster, and mid-20th-century editorial illustration.

Inspired by the Belle Époque advertising graphics and early 20th-century theatre posters, Ladies of the Night depicts two Parisian women enveloped in an atmosphere of seduction, humor, and theatricality. With a symmetrical composition and vibrant colors—orange, black, electric blue, and white accents—the artist creates an intimate, provocative scene that blends glamour, cheekiness, and female empowerment.

Both figures, wearing feathered headdresses and form-fitting dresses, confront each other in an insinuating conversation. One holds a cigarette with a relaxed gesture, while the other rests her hand with coquettishness, both enveloped in the complicity of the mirror and the night. The title, integrated within the same pictorial frame as if it were part of an old poster, offers an ironic and nostalgic wink.

The flat aesthetic, with bold strokes and flat colors, recalls both vintage lithography and the language of comics, giving the work a graphic yet contemporary character. It's not just a slice-of-life scene, but a look at sensuality, theatricality, and role-playing in Parisian nightlife.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
