AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

This is really a top piece for lovers of lively impressionistic works—and... unique. It characterizes the contemporary style of the Katwijk artist Schaap, who enjoys working artistically in a loose, brisk brushstroke that leaves a lot of space for the imagination of the art lover. Isaac Israels, Bernard Viegers, Gerhard Arij Ludwig “Morgenstjerne” Munthe, but also the style of Joop van Leeuwen, his former mentor, form important sources of inspiration.

Growing up in a fishing family, Schaap naturally feels connected to the coast – an inexhaustible source of inspiration that lies at the heart of his impressionist oil paintings. His work is now part of the collection of Galerie Gabriëls in The Hague, a renowned gallery since 1974, and also finds admirers across Europe.

This little painting, artistically and emotionally, and also in terms of color palette and composition, is very striking; it is signed on both the front and the back and comes in a lovely handmade wooden frame. The quality of paintings varies, but this is truly an exclusive fine work by this artist.
