a vessel of sacred medicine or alchemy (sometimes called a Say pot) originating from Myanmar (Burma), more precisely from the Shan culture.
It was used to store precious substances such as medicinal herb pills.
The inscriptions are not merely labels, but mantras (Gathas) believed to charge the contents with magical power for protection or healing.
On the lid: you will find blessing formulas. Words like "A-thet" (life/long life) and Buddhist invocations suggest a function of health and protection.
On the side: this is where the healer-master's 'signature' (Saya) or the specific name of the remedy usually appears (for example: "Protection from danger" or "Remedy of Victory").
It is a very beautiful collectible piece, representative of the esoteric traditions of Southeast Asia.
