Biography of Leonardo Roda
Leonardo Rhoda was self-taught, honing his skills under the guidance of Mario Cardellini, and dedicated to landscape painting, initially at the marina during his frequent visits to the Ligurian Riviera.
Indeed, from the Ligurian Riviera of Levante to the sea of Ponant (especially the city of Bordighera, where he made friends and passionate collectors), and to the French Riviera.
Here we recall the titles of some of his works: Between Celle and Albissola (1899), Riviera di Levante (exhibited in Turin, 1889), Côte d'Azur (1907), he set out for fishing along the olive grove marina, in the sea at Bordighera.
Mountain lover, alpinist, and botanist, he painted multiple versions of Valtournenche and Monte Cervino, linked to seasonal and atmospheric changes.
Consequently, landscapes are actually his only subject, and in some of his creations, he adds elements of real life.
From 1889 to 1924, he regularly exhibited at the Initiator of Turin, and from 1895 to 1925 at the Circle of Artists of Turin.
Leonardo Roda participated in exhibitions in Turin (1896, Sponde della Stura; 1898, Il Cervino), Florence (1896-1897, Nebbia in montagna and Dopo la pioggia), and Milan (1900, 1906).
Some of his works: 'Sunshine', 'Nomadic Life', 'Quiet Corner', were acquired by the Society of Fine Arts of Turin in 1914.
Roda's student was Maria Righetto, daughter of Tancredi Righetto, from whom Roda probably received significant financial assistance to promote her work. Supporting this, there are some warm letters of thanks from artists to patrons.
