Sea surf, an oil on canvas seascape by German artist Carl Kenzler (1872–1947), dated 1910–1920, signed, original edition, 120 × 91 cm, framed and sold with its frame, in good condition.
Description from the seller
”Sea surf”, this seascape was executed by German landscape and marine painter Carl Kenzler (* 12 November 1872 in Schwerin; † 28 February 1947 in Hamburg).
His work is also connected to Berlin and Potsdam.
Education and Places of Residence: He studied painting at the Berlin Academy of Arts. Besides Berlin and Potsdam, he also worked in Hamburg.
Artistic Work: Kenzler's work is documented until around 1930. He specialized in landscapes and marine subjects, favoring winter scenes and seascapes, heathland, and lake landscapes.
Style: His style is characterized by a naturalism enhanced by subtle lighting effects.
Works: Examples of his work include paintings of Brandenburg lake landscapes and heathland, some of which were created before the First World War.
Works by Carl Kenzler are still traded at auctions today.
Inscription: signed lower left.
