Lot: MABLY (Abbé de). Complete Works of the Abbé de Mably (Volumes I to IV).
Description:
Set of the first four volumes of the prestigious 1792 edition of the complete works of Abbé de Mably, published in Lyon by J. B. Delamollière. Although incomplete with respect to the total series, this initial sequence is fundamental, as it contains his most celebrated historiographical works, where the author analyzes the evolution of political institutions.

Volumes I, II, and III: Observations sur l'Histoire de France. A seminal work in which Mably traces the history of the French institutions, being one of the most cited theoretical sources during the French Revolution to justify the sovereignty of the nation.
Volume IV: Observations on the History of Greece and Observations on the Romans. A comparative analysis of civic virtue and the causes of the decadence of the republics of Antiquity.
