Paysage d’hiver, an oil painting from the 1960s–1970s by a European post-impressionist school, originated in Spain and sold with its frame.
Description from the seller
Post-Impressionist European-school landscape. A work that represents a winter scene or late autumn, articulated around a central slender-trunked tree with bare branches, flanked by low vegetation and a path or watercourse that fades into the distance.
The composition is built with loose, thickly applied brushwork of a clearly gestural character, giving great prominence to the painting's materiality and to the vibrancy of color. The chromatic range, dominated by ochers, earth tones, and soft blues, reinforces the serene and melancholy atmosphere of the whole.
The work responds to the aesthetic principles of the European post-Impressionist school, where the landscape ceases to be mere naturalistic description and becomes a personal and emotional interpretation of the surroundings. The free treatment of color and texture places the piece within the evolution of Impressionism toward more expressive languages, characteristic of twentieth-century European painting.
Framed work, ready for presentation and exhibition.
