Description from the seller

Oil painting on canvas signed, dated 2008, countersigned and annotated on the back from a private collection.
Total dimensions: 59 cm x 44 cm
Canvas/frame 55 cm x 38 cm
In good overall condition (some losses in the drapery and on the edges)

Here, a very beautiful work by Marc akop SAROLIAN, French painter of Armenian origin, born in 1927 in Marseille where he died in 2017.
The harmony of the composition, the precision of the drawing, and the richness of the color palette are remarkable.
This sapphic-themed offering scene highlights the hieratic and sensual beauty of femininity, sublimated by the light, the colors, and the timelessness of Venice. The standing nymph finds echoes of her elegance and verticality with the Campanile; the seated one brings the softness of her curves and the benevolence of her offering.

After moving to Armenia with his family in 1936, he studied at the Yerevan Fine Arts School in 1946.
He returns to Marseille, his hometown, in 1967, where he will devote himself fully and definitively to his art.
In 2013, a major retrospective was devoted to him/her at the Armenian House of Culture in Marseille.

Careful, fast, and tracked shipping via Colissimo.
