Authentic early 20th-century cricket bat from Mathers & Craven, makers based in Horbury (Yorkshire, England).
It concerns the model “Mathaven,” with original branding on the front including the star designation. At the rear it is marked “Reblade.” On the bat there are also old owner markings (“G. Sumner” and “R. Ackrill Ltd”), indicating actual competition use. The bat shows clear signs of wear, which is fully in line with its age and original sporting use. The binding is partly original. The wood has developed a beautiful natural patina. This is not a decorative reprint model but an authentic sporting object from the first half of the 20th century.
