Henrique MAPS's original 2024 acrylic and mixed media painting 'Whispered Moments', an abstract expressionist work with cream, beige, soft blue and magenta–violet accents, measuring 100 cm high by 80 cm wide, signed, in excellent condition and shipped unframed directly from the artist in Portugal.
Description from the seller
Title: “Whispered Moments”
Description:
This 100x100cm acrylic piece explores memory and impermanence through layered washes of cream, beige, and soft blue that build a weathered, almost archaeological surface.
Scattered bursts of magenta, coral, burnt orange, and violet emerge like fragments of forgotten thoughts or distant emotions, creating visual anchors within the atmospheric field.
Style:
Abstract Expressionism meets Color Field painting. The work balances gestural spontaneity with contemplative restraint—the diluted, sweeping applications of paint suggest both process and erasure, while the concentrated color marks punctuate the composition with deliberate immediacy. The overall effect feels less like decoration and more like a visual diary, where each layer records a different moment or mood.
Shipping: work is delivered without a frame (professional packaging, rolled in a tube). Your local framer will need to re-stretch it and mount it on a frame.
The indicated measurements are for the canvas once stretched and mounted on the frame. The actual measurements of the canvas are larger to allow for its mounting.
Henrique MAPS (1994) is a contemporary visual artist working in painting and mixed media. His work combines figurative and abstract elements to explore identity, social structures, and cultural observation through bold compositions featuring humans, animals, and symbolic imagery.
Working primarily with acrylics, chinese ink, drawing, and collage on canvas, MAPS creates psychologically charged paintings characterized by layered textures, graphic elements, and recurring motifs of eyes, hands, and silhouettes.
His culturally conscious practice examines contemporary social dynamics while drawing inspiration from diverse artistic traditions including urban art, modernism, and expressionism.
