This is an exquisite Japanese Komon kimono in a delicate lavender-gray color, featuring an elegant "Tobi-gara" (scattered pattern) design. The fabric showcases a sophisticated combination of auspicious motifs including folding fans (sensu/ogi), plum blossoms, chrysanthemums, and bush clover (hagi), delicately rendered against a misty, cloud-like textured background with subtle silver accents.
The folding fan is a highly symbolic motif in Japanese culture, representing prosperity and expansion as it spreads outward, making this kimono particularly auspicious. Combined with the seasonal flowers, the design creates a harmonious celebration of traditional Japanese aesthetics.
The kimono is made of pure silk (正絹) and remains in exceptional condition with the original basting threads (shitsuke-ito) still intact, indicating it has never been worn. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a pristine, unworn vintage Japanese kimono.
The subtle gradation of soft purple and gray tones, combined with the scattered motifs in muted gold and deeper purple hues, creates a refined and elegant aesthetic perfect for semi-formal occasions. The "Tobi-gara Komon" style, with its scattered pattern design, offers versatility and timeless beauty that exemplifies the sophistication of Japanese textile artistry.
