Beautiful oil painting on canvas by the Belgian/Dutch painter Frans Van Genesen (1887-1961)
Signed.
The painting is in good condition.
Framed in a gilded, classical frame. Small damage at the bottom of the frame.
Dimensions
including frame 62 x 57 cm
without frame 50 x 35 cm
The artist is listed in the art book “The Belgian Visual Artists from the 19th to the 21st Century” by Paul Piron.
Frans van Genesen was a Dutch painter, born in Tilburg (the Netherlands) in 1887 and died in Laeken (Belgium) in 1961.
He studied painting in The Hague and at the Academy in Amsterdam.
In 1911 he furthered his studies at the Academy in Paris.
He painted (Bruges) cityscapes, farmstead views, and landscapes from Flanders and the Ardennes. He ran small galleries in Blankenberge and Spa to show his works to the public. He produced several holy portraits for the church Pères Servites in Spa.
He is also listed in Two Centuries of Signatures of Belgian Artists.
