Jan Cornelis Hofman, alias Jean Hofman, was a Dutch artist born in 1889 in Nieuwer-Amstel (Netherlands) and who died in 1966 in Schaerbeek. He began as a decorator and porcelain painter in Delft (Netherlands). He was active in Brussels from 1913. His artistic preferences for post-Impressionism resulted in painting Flemish landscapes, seascapes, farm interiors, still lifes and flowers, but very few portraits. He was a member of the group «L'Effort» and is mainly regarded as a Belgian artist.
