Description from the seller

Mixed media XL artwork on wood, directly from the artist's studio. With hanging system, ready to hang!

Mixed and artisanal technique (based on my own photographic work) on wood. The photograph is lightly accented with water- and acrylic paint. The photograph accompanying this artwork has been printed and used a maximum number of times (limited edition of 25 pieces). Each edition may show small differences due to the unique accenting with paint, and thus is original as a work of art. The edition and year of production are listed on the CoA and on the back of the artwork.

Materials used include: wood, photo, acrylic paint, and varnish (glossy).

If two or more artworks are purchased in the same auction, you only pay shipping costs once.

Rouzbeh Tahmassian, based visual artist from Rotterdam. His work has been sold and exhibited worldwide for over 15 years. The unique combination of techniques and materials, along with his expressive works, makes his art very popular.

With a strong presence and success on leading online platforms and galleries, demand for his work has grown enormously in recent years. His work is mysterious and stimulates the viewer's imagination. His art is continually in motion and is not limited to figural; abstract, portraiture, and sculptures also belong to his oeuvre.

As the artist himself describes: “I use many different materials such as wood, paint, (bees)wax, sanguis, gold and silver, cotton, and various types of resin. The frames are set beforehand, but the creative process only begins after the first stroke is made. In this, I let myself be guided by my feeling. There are then no limits to what I can do. I am always looking for a new effect, a new image, seeking the unknown. I feel that there is always more to discover.”

Seller's Story

My work is created amidst emotions. I follow my feelings about how the process is progressing and what materials the artwork needs. Throughout this, the science and precision within me are constantly stirred. In my profession as a hospital pharmacist, it requires precision and accuracy. In recent years, I have increasingly fused my work as a pharmacist and a visual artist. I use chemical compounds and create my own perfectly orchestrated combination of Damar resin and beeswax, for example. To influence the viscosity of my paint and wax, I use chemicals like sorbitol and glycerol, and I incorporate burnt pages from pharmaceutical books into my artworks. I am intensely drawn to the unknown: an unknown effect, an unknown material, and an unknown twist of work. It is what motivates me to create new work in this epic battle between the flow of feelings and the science of pharmacy. Rouzbeh Tahmassian is an established multi-disciplinary artist with international exposure. His pieces combine photographs manipulated with various mixed-media techniques on beautiful pieces of wood. Each work is unique and can involve a range of materials including acrylics, oils, pastel, watercolors, beeswax, sanguis, copper, wood, blood, and more. His pieces are personal and expressive with a hint of nostalgia.
