Superb phurbu (or phurba) ritual bronze, an ancient piece of Himalayan tradition, probably Tibet or Nepal, second half / end of the 20th century.
This ceremonial dagger stands out for
- Three crowned heads at the top, finely carved, representing the three symbolic aspects (past, present, future) or the three realms of the world in Vajrayāna Buddhism.
- A richly decorated central handle, with traditional motifs.
- The characteristic trilobate blade, symbolizing the transmutation of negative energies.
- The lower end sculpted with a stylized dragon head / makara, a mythical protective creature in Himalayan iconography.
Beautiful, evenly aged patina, wear marks consistent with age and ritual use. Very striking decorative and spiritual presence.
