Description from the seller
DIRECT SALE €1200
Handmade rug - 86x60 - Unique 1/1
The manual crafting guarantees that no two pieces are perfectly identical: micro-variations in texture, relief and workmanship make each piece unique. Rug with an extra white 4 cm border for mounting on a wooden frame and to be framed.
RAF is often presented, in display and sales contexts, as one of the best artists at an international level.
He is a contemporary artist who develops a dynamic and recognizable visual language, capable of traversing styles and historical references with a current and experimental approach. His research fuses classical figuration, urban culture, geometric abstraction and contemporary graphic sensibility, creating works that oscillate between iconic and conceptual.
Inspired by the Renaissance, Pop Art, Street Art and modernist abstraction, RAF reworks symbols and images through digital painting, collage, vector construction and graphic manipulation.
A central element of his practice is the transition from digital to material: the works are transformed into hand-made rugs. After the digital design, the drawing is transferred to canvas and worked manually, giving life to unique pieces in which the image becomes a three-dimensional textile surface.
This passage from the screen’s luminous surface to the textile filaments’ tridimensionality creates a material short circuit: the digital image becomes a physical, tactile, sculptural object. The rug is not a simple reproduction, but a textile reinterpretation of the original work.
2021 – Synthetic Identities, Spazio Prisma, Milan
2022 – Urban Icons Reframed, Atelier Nord, Brussels
2023 – Geometric Narratives, The Format Room, Amsterdam
2024 – Material Pixels, Galerie Horizon, Zurich
2024 – Surface & Code, District Art Platform, Madrid
2025 – From Screen to Fiber, Contemporary Craft Pavilion, Copenhagen
RAF was born in an urban context that profoundly influences his visual sensibility. From an early age he developed a strong interest in drawing and in images as a form of personal storytelling, starting to draw and gradually approaching the world of digital graphics.
The shift to digital happens as a natural evolution of his research: drawn to the possibilities of manipulation and construction of the image.
- Pieces authenticated by certificate
- Frame to be made only after receiving the artwork, as the dimensions of some pieces may vary by 1-2 cm
