Description from the seller
Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte – Large rectangular mirror, model 2273
Italy, around 1960
Elegant and rare long rectangular mirror, model 2273, designed by Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte, an authentic icon of Italian modernist design of the twentieth century.
This dressing mirror embodies the quintessence of Ingrand's style: an essential, rigorous form that is at once refined, characterized by slender, harmonious curves that lighten the structure and enhance its timeless elegance.
The green-colored crystal glass, with an unmistakable tone, lends the mirror a unique stage presence and a sophisticated luminosity, typical of Fontana Arte productions from the 1950s–60s.
The mirror is an original antique, not a reproduction, a detail that is increasingly rare today given the widespread presence on the market of modern reproductions.
Condition
The mirror presents itself in good overall condition, consistent with its age and use:
There are two very small chips along the edges, each only a few millimeters in size, deliberately highlighted and enlarged in the photographs for maximum transparency;
Once hung on the wall, these marks are not visible and do not compromise the overall aesthetics;
On the back there are faint streaks and stains on the glass, caused by the original wooden support structure used for wall mounting.
These marks are not structural defects, but genuine traces of time that tell the object's history and confirm its antiquity and originality.
A highly appealing piece, ideal for collectors, lovers of 20th-century Italian design, or for refined interiors where you want an iconic, elegant element rich in history.
A work of art that can enhance any space with discretion and character.
