Description from the seller

Rare antique metal box by a Parisian maker, attributed to Delvaux, dating to the second half of the 19th century. The box is richly decorated with hand-applied enamel painting, executed in deep black tones and enhanced with floral motifs of roses. The interior is adorned in warm bronze hues, creating a striking contrast and emphasizing the refinement of the decorative work.
Preserved in excellent antique condition, the box shows only minimal signs of age, consistent with its historical character. The enamel decoration remains vibrant and well-defined, a testament to the high quality of Parisian craftsmanship of the period.
During the second half of the 19th century, Paris was a major center for luxury crystal and enamel decoration. Workshops such as Delvaux specialized in embellishing crystal objects with complex enamel techniques, producing small quantities intended for a refined and discerning clientele. These pieces were not mass-produced, making surviving examples particularly rare today.
This box exemplifies French decorative arts, combining crystal, enamel painting, and elegant design in a highly collectible object.
