Random Access Memories is the fourth and final studio album by French band Daft Punk, officially released on May 17, 2013n 1. It is released by Daft Life Limited, a subsidiary of Columbia Records. The album includes collaborations with several artists such as Nile Rodgers, Paul Williams, Giorgio Moroder, Pharrell Williams, Todd Edwards, DJ Falcon, Chilly Gonzales, Panda Bear and Julian Casablancas and is characterized, as a tribute to the sound of the years 1970, by the decision to use musicians playing on acoustic or electro-acoustic instruments (guitar, bass, drums, piano, etc.) while limiting the use of electronic machines. When it was published, the album met with significant international success: it exceeded one million copies in its first week of sale and reached number one in the charts in a number of countries. Among other awards, Random Access Memories won the Grammy Award for best album of the year on January 27, 2014 in Los Angeles.
