Description from the seller
The Work
- Planes (2026). Mixed media on board with glued and screwed elements. 80x80x4 cm.
In Specimen, the work transcends the pictorial plane to become an object. On the main support, screwed boards are integrated that interrupt the surface and transform it into a built-up body, nearly assembled. The piece ceases to be merely an image to affirm itself as a physical presence.
The screws are not hidden; they are part of the language. They speak of structure, of fastening, of direct intervention. There is an almost industrial will in the gesture, as if the frame were a “specimen” analyzed, modified or reinforced, displayed before the viewer as something tangible and structural.
The square format of 80 by 80 cm acts as a stable frame in the face of that material alteration. The added boards create texture, real shadows, and a reading that changes depending on the point of view. Specimen moves between painting and construction, between surface and volume, posing a reflection on what sustains—literally and conceptually—a work.
- Hand-signed by the artist on the back.
