The 'Studies on Hysteria' by Josef Breuer and Sigmund Freud were published in 1895 and are regarded as the first tractate of classic psychoanalysis. It is a collection of essays that initially addressed the older concept of hysteria as defined by Paul Julius Möbius (1888), but soon introduced new, primarily etiological, concepts. Freud subsequently developed his own concept, based on the assumption that unconscious processes are specifically hysterical phenomena, and later presented a psychotherapeutic treatment method that did not have to rely on hypnotic and cathartic elements (source: Wikipedia)
