Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain Sugar Bowl with Lid – Canton Style – 20th Century
Elegant Chinese porcelain sugar bowl with matching lid, finely decorated in the traditional Famille Rose (Canton) style.
The exterior is richly adorned with polychrome enamel decoration featuring court figures in interior scenes, floral compositions, butterflies, and ornate scrolling motifs highlighted with gilt accents. The vibrant palette of pink, green, yellow, blue, and iron-red is characteristic of Canton enamel decoration.
The domed lid is topped with a delicate finial in the form of a peach with gilt finish and coral-toned leaves, symbolizing longevity in Chinese iconography. The piece is fitted with two gracefully shaped side handles, enhancing both balance and elegance.
The interior is glazed in pale celadon-white, and the foot rim shows natural wear consistent with age.
