Bio
Jérôme Mesnager is a quintessential French artist on the street art scene, born in Colmar in 1961. He is best known for his creation of the 'White Body', a white silhouette of a man that has become an iconic figure in urban art. This motif, which he began painting in 1983, represents a form of freedom and peace, and it can be found all over the world, from the walls of Paris to monuments in China.
Mesnager follows the tradition of painters who treat the city as a canvas, often in dialogue with other figures of the movement such as Blek le Rat and Banksy. Beyond his street work, Mesnager also exhibits in galleries, displaying a wider range of techniques and subjects, while staying true to his distinctive style and humanist messages. His work strikes the viewer with its strong visual contrast and its commitment to provoking reflection on the human condition and society.
