Gérard Pairé, born in Nantes, France in 1950,
Like some painters of my generation (Bernard Frize, François Rouan, Bernard Piffaretti, etc.) I have partially detached the pictorial gesture from a certain psychologism. I have sought the limits by inventing a strategy (that of not trying too hard to exert to allow painting itself free rein); in the tradition also of the artists of the previous generation (Hantaï, Helen Frankenthaler, Morris Louis, etc).
