Description from the seller

A MIGHTY BAROQUE MISSAL WITH COPPER ETCHINGS AND BRONZE HARDWARE

FOLIO FORMAT

Missale Romanum ex decreto sacrosancti Concilii Tridentini restitutum, S. PII V. Pontificis maximi jussu editum, Clementis VIII. et Urbani VIII. auctoritate recognitum, in quo Missae novissimae Sanctorum accurately sunt dispositae.

Augsburg. Printed by Ignatius Adam & Franz Anton Veith, 1767.

With 8 full-page copper engravings (see photos).

Impressive two-color title in red and black with a large copper engraving (The Last Supper), a typical Tridentine Missal with the entire Latin text, rubrics in red and numerous initials. The monumental original binding: brown leather binding over solid wooden boards with rich back- and cover-gilding, large central medallion “Ave Maria,” decorative blind embossing, and sturdy brass fittings at all corners – a classical altar Missal with strong sacred aura.

Condition: The book is in good condition. The brass fittings are particularly decorative. It contains 8 full-page copper engravings. Some pages are loose.
Collation: 38 + 534 + 122 (Commune Sanctorum) + 85 pages (Proprium Festorum, Missae, ...)
