Carlo Trevisan, Piccoli amici, a 2025 original oil painting of 35×35 cm and 100 g, depicting two birds in an undefined space with dark lines, hand-signed, in a Surrealism style and excellent condition, sold directly by the artist.
Description from the seller
The artwork depicts a goldfinch and a robin, captured in a moment of quiet closeness.
As in other works by the artist, the subjects do not rest on real ground, but on slender dark lines that seem to float in an undefined space. This gives the birds an aura of abstraction, transforming them from simple birds into icons of a silent dialogue.
The choice to place two different species side by side suggests a theme of harmony and coexistence. The great tit, with its more upright posture, and the robin, slightly inclined, create a balanced visual dynamism that guides the eye between the primary colors of the plumage.
Trevisan's technique is distinguished by an impeccably smooth application of color, which almost completely eliminates the trace of the brushstroke to emphasize the pure form.
The vibrant yellow of the siskin and the warm orange of the robin stand out strongly against the cold, shaded tones of the blue-gray background. This chromatic precision gives the subjects a sculptural three-dimensionality.
Despite the minimalist style, the artist pays great attention to the rendering of the eyes, which look glossy and alive, giving the two 'friends' a watchful and self-aware expressiveness.
“Little Friends” represents an ode to simplicity and encounter. Trevisan strips nature of any chaos or disorder, offering the viewer an idealized and orderly vision of the animal world. The work does not describe an event, but a state of being: a condition of peace and mutual presence that transcends the given natural data to arrive at a reflection on friendship as universal balance.
