Description
Synchronicity is the fifth and final studio album by The Police, released in June 1983. It became the band's most commercially successful release, featuring legendary hits such as "Every Breath You Take," "King of Pain," and "Wrapped Around Your Finger." This specific release is the Columbia House Club Edition, identifiable by the "CRC" marking on the spine and the iconic Columbia House slipcase design.
By 1983, the 8-track format was nearly extinct in retail stores, as the industry had pivoted almost entirely to vinyl and cassette. As a result, many major albums from this era were only available on 8-track through mail-order record clubs like Columbia House, making these late-period cartridges significantly rarer than their LP counterparts.
Condition
Status: Still Sealed / New Old Stock (NOS).
Seal: Original factory shrink wrap is intact.
Slipcase: The outer cardboard slipcase is in excellent condition with sharp corners and vibrant colors.
Cartridge: Visible through the packaging, the black cartridge appears pristine with no signs of heat damage or cracks.
Notes for collectors
This is a premier collector's item for fans of The Police and 8-track enthusiasts. Finding a sealed copy of Synchronicity on 8-track is becoming increasingly difficult due to the low production numbers of the format in the early 80s. The album artwork on the slipcase features the classic "blue, red, and yellow" horizontal stripes, representing the three band members (Sting, Andy Summers, and Stewart Copeland). As a late-era 8-track, this is considered a "must-have" for completing a collection of 80s rock on the format.
