Wall-mounted Art Nouveau console in wood from Germany, dating to circa 1910–1920, measuring 23 cm high, 14 cm deep and 14 cm wide, weighing 300 g and described as very good original condition with decorative carved details.
Description from the seller
Hello
The item for sale is an elegant, hanging wall console made in the Art Nouveau (Secession) style. The furniture is characterized by the period's typical fluidity of lines and attention to carving details.
Material: Solid wood (probably walnut or stained beech) with a warm, deep hue.
Decorations: The backplate is adorned with subtle, hand-carved plant motifs (stylized leaves). The support and the edge of the shelf feature decorative milling, which gives the piece a light overall feel.
Form: Classic "whip-like" line, no sharp angles, organic shape of the support.
Condition: Very good / original. The wood is sound, with natural patina of age.
Ideal as a display piece under an antique clock, porcelain figurine, or stylish vase. It will fit wonderfully in both classic and eclectic interiors.
Style: This is the so-called "functional Secession," popular in Central Europe (especially in the territories of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire and Germany).
Construction: The method of edge milling on the tabletop suggests artisanal workshop production from the early 20th century.
Motif: The plant relief plaque on the backplate was a hallmark of furniture from this period, before the style was overtaken by more geometric Art Déco (after 1920).
Collectible value: Such objects enjoy enduring interest because they are practical (space-saving) and provide a clear historical accent in a room.
