Description from the seller

Large Decorative Lidded Urn with Ram’s Head Handles – Cobalt Blue & Gilt – 57 cm – ca. 1930–1955

Description

Impressive and richly decorated large porcelain urn with lid, executed in deep cobalt blue with abundant gilt decoration. The body is adorned with refined gold ornamental motifs and features an oval cartouche with a romantic 18th-century pastoral scene, signed “M. Languet”.

The urn is flanked by sculptural gilt ram’s head handles, giving the piece a strong classical presence inspired by French Sèvres style. The lid is crowned with a flame-shaped finial, and the urn stands on an elegant square base with gilded accents.

With a height of 57 cm, this is a substantial and eye-catching decorative object, highly suitable as a statement piece in a classic, château, or eclectic interior.

Date

Circa 1930–1955 (mid-20th century).

Material

Porcelain with gilt detailing.

Dimensions
• Height: 57 cm
• Width: 32 cm
• Depth: 22 cm

Condition

Overall good decorative condition with minor age-related wear.

Important: One of the ram’s horns shows patchy gilding and possible old restoration or wear to the gold finish. The gilding on this horn appears uneven compared to the other side. Please review the photographs carefully.
