沼地 (Numachi, Japanese for marshland) is a large, atmospheric painting that lingers between landscape and abstraction. Deep, cool greens settle at the top of the canvas, gradually dissolving into muted earth tones and a pale, almost waterlike base. The horizontal transitions evoke a quiet wetland seen in low light, soft ground, standing water and vegetation merging into one continuous field.

The work is built from many diluted layers of chromium oxide green, raw sienna and yellow ochre, allowing the pigments to soak into the weave of the canvas rather than sit heavily on the surface. Faint streaks, blurred bands and small irregularities remain visible, like traces of water movement, silt and moss.
