Description from the seller
Marina with boats and fishermen by the painter Giuseppe Cavalleri
An extremely luminous painting, oil on canvas, rectangular, depicting a group of boats and fishermen at dawn.
In the middle of a clear sea, where a beautiful blue light is reflected and a sky slightly overcast with clouds.
Work with a fairly lively and bold touch.
An artwork characterized by warm colors and a deft use of perspective.
Signed bottom left "G. Cavalleri"
An Italian painter accustomed to this type of marine scenery, who depicts fishermen or boats at sea.
He works a lot on the tactile feel of flattened rectangles and on light, with subdued and rather warm colors, set against skies often overcast by a few clouds. Cavalleri was fascinated by marine landscapes, especially the coastlines of Liguria, and by lake views, such as those of Lake Como. His works are characterized by a great attention to natural details and a vibrant rendering of light and color, often using delicate tones and poetic atmospheres. He also painted landscapes, but his passion for the sea remains one of his most distinguishing features.
Splendid guilloché frame in molded wood, black lacquer and lighter highlights.
Authentic opera from the early 1900s, of excellent quality.
