Held by the surface is an oil painting in Impressionism, created in 2026, hand-signed, in excellent condition, measuring 30 cm by 40 cm, depicting a portrait, originating from the Netherlands, an original edition, sold directly from the artist, dating to the 2020s.
Description from the seller
Panel 0.6 cm
This painting is part of my ongoing series of young male figures in water, inspired by the classical Ophelia motif.
I am fascinated by the fragile moment between strength and surrender. The young body appears vulnerable, yet there is also calm. The water does not consume him — it holds him.
The reflection creates a second presence: who we are, and who we think we are. Youth is often expected to be strong and invulnerable, yet this work shows another side — softness, introspection, and emotional depth.
