Japanese contemporary artwork by Tetsuya Abe titled Shugo, hand-signed, 2003, in excellent condition; a mixed-media piece measuring 50 × 25 cm and weighing 7 kg, depicting mythology, originating from Japan, original edition, from the 2000–2010 period.
Description from the seller
The image shows an example of Hitofude Ryū (one-stroke dragon), a traditional Japanese art in which the dragon's body is painted with a single, fluid brushstroke without ever lifting it from the paper. This art form is closely tied to the city of Nikko, in Tochigi Prefecture, where the famous Tōshō-gū Shrine is located. The sinuous body symbolizes continuity, good fortune, and protection. The works titled "Shugo" (Protection) are still among the most sought-after and produced at the Kousyuuya studio in Nikko, where the tradition has been handed down for four generations.
The lot will be carefully packaged and shipped with contracted couriers. For this lot, shipments outside the European Community are not made.
