Description from the seller

Original glass remembrance mug of Reservist Lütgert, who served from 1901–1903 with Telegraph Battalion No. 1, 3rd Company.

Proudly decorated with an enamelled plumed knight’s helmet with the Iron Cross, and a shield bearing the imperial flag, the eagle, the regimental coat of arms and the regimental designation (I TB III). On the tin lid is depicted the shako these troops wore. The thumb grip also shows the regimental coat of arms, three bolts of lightning in a fist (see last photo).

The 'Telegrafentruppen' were initially part of the pioneer battalions. In 1899 they became an independent branch of the army.

Rare.
