Gérard Pairé born in Nantes, France in 1950,
Like some painters of my generation (Bernard Frize, François Rouan, Bernard Piffaretti etc) I have partially distanced the pictorial gesture from a certain psychologism. I have sought the limits by inventing a strategy (that of not pushing to work too much to allow free rein to painting itself); in the lineage also of the artists of the previous generation (Hantaï, Helen Frankenthaler, Morris Louis etc).
