Laima Studio - “Cosmic Dust” – XL Abstract on 3D Canvas

Laima (Ana Laima Tavares, Portuguese, active 2023–present) is an emerging abstract painter whose practice explores the dialogue between art and interior living spaces. “Cosmic Dust” is an original mixed media painting created with acrylics and volcanic sands on high‑quality 3D cotton canvas, painted in 2025. The visible image measures 93 × 72 × 3,5cm (height × width × depth, canvas only, without external frame). The work is signed on the lower right corner in acrylic. It is a unique, one‑of‑a‑kind piece; no prints or editions have been produced.
The painting evokes the impression of a distant galaxy or nebula, where particles of light and matter collide in a shimmering cloud of energy. Layers of textured volcanic sand, metallic pigments and fine splatters create a rich surface that changes with the light and reveals new details when viewed up close. Warm tones of copper, orange and gold are balanced by cooler pink, turquoise and blue accents, suggesting fragments of stars suspended in deep space. The high, gallery‑style edges of the 3D canvas are painted in dark blue, so the work can be hung directly without an additional frame, making it ideal as a statement piece for contemporary interiors.

Provenance: acquired directly from the artist’s studio (Laima Studio), first owner.

Condition: new and in excellent overall condition, with no restorations, cracks, stains or visible colour changes; any minor irregularities in texture are inherent to the mixed media process.

Shipping: the artwork will be shipped stretched on its original 3D wooden stretcher, carefully protected with multiple layers of packaging.

Laima is a Portuguese woman searching for a way of connecting with this world. Through painting and its dialogue with interior living spaces, she gives form to her sense of purpose. Laima Studio was born from the desire to be and live differently; “Laima” is one of her last names and has long carried a sense of difference, which today became the foundation of how she sees, feels and creates. She did not follow a traditional art path: after choosing what was safe and expected, life eventually led her back to the girl who loved colours, drawing and crafting with her hands. Instead of representing a fixed style, her abstract paintings invite self‑discovery and exploration, unfolding through pure spontaneity.
