Description from the seller
This enameled glass vase dates from the Art Nouveau period, at the beginning of the 20th century, probably between 1900 and 1920. It features hand-painted floral chrysanthemum motifs with colored enamels on a transparent glass body, characteristic of the French decorative style of that era.
Enamelled vases with floral motifs, particularly chrysanthemums, were highly prized during the Art Nouveau period due to Japanese influence on Western art.
This thickly molded glass vase, with geometric relief decoration, accented by a metal mount at the neck (probably silvered or base-silver).
This type of production is characteristic of the firm Legras & Cie, active in Saint-Denis and then Pantin, at the turn of the late 19th to early 20th century.
We are here facing a quality utilitarian production, sometimes called fantasy glassware, distinct yet complementary to the famous acid-etched glass pastes.
Metal ring (silver) around the neck, very common at Legras
