Description from the seller

Pair of book supports made with antique wooden mouldings from an Indian temple.
The woods are carved with care and diligence. The wood is a hard wood. Both weigh a total of 3.5 kilograms.
The two sides are similar, but not identical. The side that was probably visible in the temple is very refined and deeply carved. The less visible side has a more rough sculpture. They still show traces of coloration.
The part that remains in contact with the books (see photo) shows a small squared hollow, which represented a mortise of the temple's structure. Both measure about 20 centimeters in length, about 14 centimeters in height and about 9 centimeters in thickness. The measurements are not precise since these are ancient elements. They are also hand-carved, so there may be slight differences in measurements with a maximum error range of about 1 centimeter. They show the right signs of time, such as chips, missing pieces, and imperfections. Such features are not defects, but virtues.
