Karl Lagasse, a renowned artist, gained notoriety in 2009 with his One Dollar sculptures, ranking that year among the ten best sculptors under 30 according to Artprice. In 2012, the New York publication Farameh named him one of the fifty best contemporary artists, inspired by traditional American icons, in its work FOR WHICH IT STANDS: Americana in Contemporary Art. More recently, in 2016, at the Art Paris Art Fair, the President of the French Republic warmly congratulated Karl for his impressive 2-meter bronze sculpture One Dollar, exhibited at the Grand Palais.

Karl’s artistic journey began at age 7 with collages, encouraged by his meeting with sculptor César Baldaccini. He later turned to tagging and graffiti in the Paris metro while remaining passionate about collages. Artist Yvaral Vasarely encouraged him to fuse his tags with his collages. In 2003, Karl prepared his first exhibition in Paris, which led to his first solo show in 2006 at the Isy Brachot gallery in Brussels. In 2008, he returned to Paris with an exhibition combining paintings, sculptures, and video elements at Espace Pierre Cardin.

2026:
- Finalization of the work One Dollar Green Bronze 8 meters 7 tons. The largest One Dollar sculpture in the world created by the artist.

2025:
- Installation of the monumental work Reflection of the Sun. Installed near the newly rebuilt Pavillon des Bains on the Promenade Michel d’Ornano, inaugurated by mayor Philippe Augier on September 8.

2024:
- Art Miami - Group exhibitions Galerie Nicolas Auvray New York. For the occasion, a bronze cryptogram of 1m80 and a 2-meter One Dollar were exhibited during the event.
- 50th anniversary of the Deauville American Film Festival; for the occasion, the artist created 18 bronze trophies and a 2-meter sculpture to be installed at the CID. Artists interviewed about the artist and who received the trophy include: Michael Douglas, Daisy Ridley, Natalie Portman, Michelle Williams, Mikey Madison...

2023:
- Aspen Saint Regis: Installation of the 2-meter One Dollar in front of the St Regis. The Aspen Times covered the event in a dedicated article.
- Rapper Rick Ross posed with a special St Regis edition One Dollar.

2022:
- New York: Times Square, NY City, projection on the Nasdaq screen of the work “A One Dollar in the Cyberspace City.”
- American Film Festival trophies presented to Thandiwe Newton, Jesse Eisenberg, Ana de Armas…

2021:
- New studio in Austin, Texas, USA.
- Solo exhibition by the artist.
- Finalization of the sculpture “Ascension of Christ” after years of work.

2020:
- Beginning work on the largest piece ever created by the artist: the One Dollar Bronze Green 8 Meters.

- Deauville American Film Festival: the artist created a new sculpture, representing his dollar engraved in aluminum.

2018:

2017:
- Karl Lagasse succeeds prestigious Cartier in creating the trophies for the Deauville American Film Festival.

2016:
- Art Fair Paris at the Grand Palais
- A two-meter-high “One Dollar,” entirely bronze, was exhibited at the Art Paris fair.
- The French president visited the exhibition and congratulated the artist in person for his work.
- First in Spain at Marbella’s Atrium gallery, solo show with new collections in the presence of the international press and the city mayor, Jose Bernal Gutierrez. Special performance by his wife, opera singer Cherise Lagasse, who performed pieces from her repertoire.

2015:
- Second collaboration with Maserati, creating a monumental installation titled “A Piece of Heaven on Earth.” This work features a Maserati wrapped in white plastic film and a sculpture of Jesus Christ. Around the car, several sculptures representing one-dollar bills are laid on the ground, symbolizing the repayment of humanity’s greatest debt

2014:
- Maserati presents worldwide the Maserati Ghibli redesigned by Karl Lagasse for the brand’s 100th anniversary.
- Solo exhibition at the Italian Embassy in Paris. The Italian ambassador to France organized a dinner in his presence, around the artist’s works.

2013:
- Collective exhibition Automobile Club de France, Place de la Concorde, Paris.

2012:
- Karl donated a bronze Crytogram One sculpture to the city of Deauville, permanently at the city entrance.
- For the 65th anniversary of the Cannes Film Festival, Karl created a sculpture “Building” made from a collage of photos retracing the festival’s historic moments.
