KILLER ZONE
A 18th-century nobleman emerges from the darkness with the solemn composure of European aristocratic portraits. The face is still, the gaze firm, the posture impeccable. But something interrupts the historical narrative: a space helmet wraps around his head, isolating him from the world, while a bright neon light surrounds his head like a contemporary halo.
The neon phrase — “Your Comfort Zone Will Kill You” — is not just a message, but a verdict.
The contrast is stark:
the aristocracy of the past, symbol of privilege and stability, is projected into a sterile, suspended, space-like dimension. The helmet becomes a metaphor for extreme protection, distance, absolute security. But that same protection becomes a barrier. The halo does not sanctify: it illuminates a condemnation.
Slasky builds a short circuit between eras and symbols:
the hereditary nobility and the exploration of the future, classical painting and the urban neon language. The work confronts the viewer with silent brutality: how much of our identity is built to protect us? And how does this protection become immobility?
“Killer Zone” does not speak of spectacular risk.
It speaks of the invisible danger of stagnation.
In an era obsessed with safety and the comfort zone, the work suggests that the absence of friction can be the most elegant of traps.
Slasky is a renowned Italian artist whose works have been exhibited in solo and group shows internationally.
The artist has the ability to fuse classical artworks with techniques of contemporary digital art. With his neo-urban classic style, he unites tradition and modernity, bringing the protagonists of the original artworks into contemporary social and artistic environments.
