Antonio de Chiara was born in Salerno and earned a degree in Architecture in Naples, at the University of Federico II. He has resided in Florence since 2005, where he teaches Art and Image.
He has delved into the pictorial experiences of Italian and Flemish 17th-century naturalism, always finding in them a source of inspiration.
He has collaborated with several national and international galleries, exhibiting in Italian and foreign cities (Rome, Ferrara, Milan, Florence, London), in addition to taking part in and winning numerous painting competitions in Italy and Europe.
He was selected by Vittorio Sgarbi to participate in EXPOARTEITALIA-NA. Furthermore, in 2015 he was chosen for FIGURATIVAS 2015, an important international figurative painting competition in Barcelona, an event chaired by Antonio López García and Odd Nerdrum.
"Nunca he creído que la pintura se use para expresarse.
Para mi, pintar es aniquilarse completamente del contexto y vivir en una dimensión extranjera en una tierra extranjera, tal vez conteniendo a sus monstruos" Antonio de Chiara.
