Brand: Omega
Model: Automatic "Monsanto" Presentation
Reference Number: C6336
Serial Number: 34271977
Movement: Omega Caliber 1022 Automatic
Dial: Silver linen with applied gold Monsanto "M"
Case Size: 35 mm
Case Material: Gold Filled
Production Year: 1972
Condition: Excellent vintage condition with a beautifully preserved dial and sharp case lines, showing honest signs of age appropriate for a presentation piece.
Dial and Hands
The standout feature of this timepiece is the original silver dial, which features a vertical brushed linen texture that catches the light beautifully. The dial is adorned with applied gold baton indices featuring black inlays, matching the gold stick hands which also retain their black detailing. A gold-framed day-date window sits at the three o'clock position. The most unique element is the applied gold "M" logo at the six o'clock position, specially commissioned for Monsanto. The dial surface is exceptionally clean, while the tritium lume plots have aged to a warm, consistent tone.
Case and Crystal
The 35mm case is finished in gold fill, presenting a classic round profile with straight, angled lugs. The case retains good definition, though there are expected signs of vintage wear and light handling marks consistent with its age. The crown is signed with the Omega logo. The acrylic crystal is clear and free of distracting marks, allowing for an unobstructed view of the textured dial. The caseback is stainless steel with a gold finish and features a personal engraving.
Movement
Powering the watch is the reliable Omega Caliber 1022 automatic movement. This movement features a day-date complication and is known for its durability. The watch is running within vintage tolerances, with timegrapher results showing a rate of +13 to +18 seconds per day with strong amplitude, which indicates a healthy movement offering reliable vintage performance.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a deep brown leather strap with an alligator grain pattern, complementing the gold tones of the case. It is secured by a gold-tone pin buckle featuring the Omega emblem, completing the vintage presentation.
Condition
This timepiece is in excellent vintage condition. The dial is remarkably well-preserved, serving as the highlight of the watch. The case shows honest wear, particularly on the edges of the lugs where the gold plating shows slight thinning, which is typical for gold-filled cases of this era. The movement is clean and functioning correctly.
Dimensions
The case measures 35 mm in diameter excluding the crown, a classic size that offers a refined presence on the wrist.
Remarks
This is a rare opportunity to own a "double-signed" style corporate dial from Omega. The linen texture adds a layer of sophistication often missing from standard flat dials, and the gold "M" logo provides a unique conversation point. The watch combines the utility of a day-date automatic with the charm of a mid-century presentation watch.
History
This watch was originally presented as a long-service award. The caseback bears the inscription "Emil E. Kmiec / 25 Years / Monsanto Service / 1981". While the movement serial number dates the production of the caliber to 1972, it was common for high-value presentation watches to be cased and awarded years later. It stands as a tangible piece of American corporate history.
